The server was down for 18+ hours while physically migrating the server hardware.
The server is now located on the penthouse level, with gorgeous city, mountain, and ocean views. This matters not the least for server activities, but was in fact vital in the selection of new location process.
Our ISP continues to be TekSavvy. It appears, based on some speed tests, that this new building has fibre to the building switch; there is some measurable improvement in latency. This has no effect within the USA as Net Neutrality has been repealed there.
In the process the WordPress software and many plugins were also upgraded – 17 scripts and themes were updated to current releases.
We are planning two maintenance outages in the future – the first in August to replace the power supply with a new one (there are no problems with the current unit, but it has been in continuous use for 24 months without a fans/internal clean.)
The second is server software rebuild on a different upgrade and back ups model. This will probably not take place until the end of September or early October. The server will likely upgrade to a non-lts OS in this cycle.
